Located on a hilltop with panoramic views, Mantis Founders Lodge is situated just 90km from Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth).
Once the home of Conservation Pioneer and Mantis Founder, Adrian Gardiner, Mantis Founders Lodge offers a soul-reviving safari in the Eastern Cape.
They say that first impressions count and this is never more true than when guests arrive at Mantis Founders Lodge, where they are welcomed with warm hospitality and awed by close sightings of rhino and other wild animals at the Lodge.
This intimate Lodge offers 6 beautifully appointed suites that accommodate 2 adult guests each. They are each furnished with a king-size bed and have an en-suite bathroom with both a bath and shower. Each suite opens onto a veranda with breath-taking views. Each of the air-conditioned suites is equipped with a minibar, tea and coffee making facilities, an electronic safe and complimentary WiFi. In-room guest amenities include dressing gowns, slippers and hairdryers.
Mantis Founders Lodge offers guests an informal lounge with a cosy fireplace to enjoy a good book and a bar with a billiards table which is often the heart of the Lodge as guests gather round to swop stories of the day’s safari sightings. The Lodge also has a boma and welcoming firepit for those still, cloudless evenings when you feel like doing some stargazing.

Guests can also indulge in a good book in the library, or for those looking to remain active, a gym and steam room is available. There are also two outdoor swimming pools that guests can cool down in.

Authentic South African cuisine, prepared by our local Chefs, is served at a number of locations in and around the lodge.

The Founder’s Museum hosts an array of unique memorabilia and photographs and a small curio shop is available for you to pick up mementos and souvenirs of your trip.
Guests can enjoy Big Five game drives on the Shamwari Game Reserve, bird watching and guided nature walks as daily activities.
