Namibia - Chobe River
Mantis Chobe River Experiences
Welcome to the Chobe River
Mantis has unearthed river adventures on the natural border of Namibia and Botswana – the great Chobe River. From its humble beginnings in mountain spring in Angola to the precipices of the Victoria Falls; the Chobe River runs through woodlands, swamps, and past lush little islands and the greatest herds of elephant you will see in a lifetime.
The river is a source of life to the millions of living of things around it. It teems with over 80 species of fish, and the hippos and crocodiles rule the waters. Land animals congregate at the riverfront in their masses from April to late October and create an authentic Africa scene. There are more than 450 types of birds around the river and reach up to 500 species when the Summer migrants arrive in September.
Our experiences on the Chobe River include the Zambezi Queen, three Chobe Princess houseboats and Ichingo Chobe River Lodge. All these are based on the quieter Namibian side of the Chobe River.
