Location
The Kalahari Desert is a large semi-arid sandy savannah in Southern Africa extending for 900,000 square kilometers (350,000 sq mi), covering much of Botswana, parts of Namibia, and regions of South Africa. With huge tracts of excellent grazing after good rains, the Kalahari supports more animals and plants than a true desert, such as the Namib Desert to the west. There are small amounts of rainfall and the summer temperature is very high. Feline Fields Lodge is located North-West of Botswana, between the Okavango Delta and the Namibian border.
To fully appreciate the immense remoteness of Feline Fields Lodge, arriving by helicopter is recommended, with a flight time of 50min from Maun to the Lodge.
The Gumare Airstrip is located 1h10mins from the lodge should guests make use of private air charter in a light aircraft.
Feline Fields Lodge offers complimentary 3-hour (200km) road transfers from Maun airport in a 4×4 air-conditioned vehicle. A dedicated airport transit lounge is located approximately 250m from Maun Airport, complimentary for guests to enjoy quiet refreshments, comfortable lounge seating with complimentary Wifi to connect to whilst awaiting their connecting flight.
